3 Months in Spain

  • It has already been 3 months since we arrived in Spain, the first time for me and a homecoming of sorts for Rick who has been away from homeĀ for over 2 years.

Saying good bye to friends and family at the airport.

  • The trip here wasn’t too bad. We left KL ater going through a hassle regarding a visa i was supposed to have and were questioned several times passing through KLIA onboard our AirAsia flight to Paris. As far as i knew Malaysians don’t need a visa to enter Europe, but i was second-guessing myself throughout the flight. After 13 hours, we finally arrived at Orly Airport in Paris to breeze through immigration, with Rick accompanying me through the slow lane, just to make sure everything was ok.
  • We had a 5-hour layover in the airport, which passed pretty fast once we discovered that our next flight to Valencia was from a completely different terminal, a bus-ride away! Both tired and grumpy, we begrudgingly made our way over and were greeted with lots of people in a sort of organised chaios! We had arived at the Vuelling check-in counters and were surrounded by Spanish people. It was rather strange at first for me as the terminal we had come from was so quiet.

Checking in at the Vuelling counter at Orly Airport, Paris.

  • When we finally boarded the plane to Valencia, i slept as soon as we took off and only woke up as we were preparing to land so i first stepped foot in Spain in a daze. It was cold and dark but Olatx was waiting for us..
  • The end of this week marks 3 months since we arrived in Spain and it has been a whirlwind. I have been to several other countries and provinces within Spain to meet Rick’s friends and family. What an experience to start off the rest of our lives together with!

Our first day in Gilet, Valencia was a wet one. Outside Olatx's house, our home for the next few months..

Olatx took us for lunch on our first day in Spain together to Bar Tropic, just a short walk away from home., where we sampled delicious home-cooked food.

Lunch at Bar Tropic consisted of a few courses. Welcome to Spain!
